THE FLORIST LIVERPOOL – RESTAURANT REVIEW
By Heather Barrigan
Since the Florist restauarant and bar opened its doors to Liverpool in April 2017, it has blossomed in more ways than one, and is now known as one of the most Instagram-worthy restaurants in the UK.
My first trip to The Florist exceeded my expectations, starting with our arrival, as the lady on the desk informed me that we had a private room. How fancy? From then on, I decided to go all out and indulge.
Everything was finished to perfection from the herbarium décor to the floral-inspired food, which is not only picture-worthy but tastes like a dream. I especially loved the Lavender Honey and Sunflower loaf, which is great sharer to start, if you wish to share that is (I didn’t).
There is a huge amount of choice at The Florist but I had to go with the cod, king prawn and chorizo hanging kebab with harissa chips, which I washed down with a coconut and poppy mojito. What more could you want? Well, I actually made room for a Hazelnut, chocolate and banana spring roll, I couldn’t resist.
But don’t take my word for it, try it yourself. The Florist Liverpool caters for everyone; the carnivores, vegetarians, pescatarians, gluten-free, the little ones, and of course those who would prefer a liquid lunch, so no one has to miss out.
Early birds can try the brunch menu, which is the best hangover cure if you can manage to get yourself out of bed before 12pm on the weekend. You can also try out one of the best roasts in town on a Sunday. But if you are not alive before 12, the regular menu is served from 12pm – 11pm, so you have plenty of time to cure that hangover, before drinking again of course.
Since my first visit, I have gone back to try nearly every cocktail on the menu, followed by making a show of myself dancing to the amazing DJs and saxophonists who usually play until around two in the morning on weekends!
Make sure you book in advance, especially on the weekends, unless you just plan on drinking. Reserve a table at The Florist on their lovely website here: http://theflorist.uk.com/locations/liverpool. Fingers crossed you get a fancy private room like I did ey!
