8 OF THE BEST PLACES FOR VEGAN FOOD IN LIVERPOOL
By Amy Jackson
Liverpool is one of the best cities in the UK when it comes to food and drink spots, especially if you’re meat free. If you’re a full time vegan who’s seeking some tasty vegan food in Liverpool, or you’re simply trying to cut down on your meat and dairy consumption, here’s some suggestions on the best vegan restaurants Liverpool has to offer.
Down the Hatch
Down the Hatch is one of the best vegan restaurants in Liverpool to visit if you’re craving some junk food. Here, you’ll find junk food favourites such as burgers, hot dogs and loaded fries – all made with vegan ingredients. Our personal recommendation is the BBQ pulled jackfruit topped seitan burger. Pulled pork? We don’t know her..
Not technically a Vegan restaurant in Liverpool but definitely worth the mention, Wootan Scran is an all vegan chippy which launched in 2019. Owned by the same team behind Down the Hatch, Wootan Scran offers completely vegan alternatives to all the usual chip shop favourites such as salt and pepper ‘chicken’, pie dinners, spring rolls, and more. Wootan Scran is based in the beautiful Lark Lane within walking distance to Sefton Park, making it the perfect place to stock up on vegan food for your upcoming summer picnic!
Home of the disco cauliflower, Maray is one of our all-time favourite restaurants. While Maray’s menu isn’t entirely vegan, they do offer a wide variety of vegan options. You can also ask for the vegan version of their classic cauliflower dish. Check out our review of Maray Bold Street.
If you’re after vegan food in Liverpool and fancy sampling some Indian cuisine, head to Sanskruti. This hidden gem of a restaurant is situated in the Business District of Liverpool, and offers a menu of authentic Indian street food and curry classics for Liverpool vegans to enjoy.
Another of Liverpool’s newest offerings, Potts Coffee is a perfect little Vegan cafe in Liverpool City Centre. Located just off Bold Street, Potts Coffee is a great place to catch up with friends over an oat milk latte and some vegan brunch. Try their vegan take on the McDonalds classic sausage and egg McMuffin – your new favourite hangover cure!
A long-time traditional Liverpool pub, The Caledonia became one of the best spots for vegan food in Liverpool in 2017. Their menu consists of all the pub food classics you can think of, all made with a vegan twist. They also offer an impressive choice of options for vegan breakfast in Liverpool.
With a wide array of plant-based cakes and treats, The Nakery is the ideal spot for sweet-toothed vegans everywhere. This vegan bakery in Liverpool creates delicious raw treats that are not only vegan but also gluten and refined sugar free. Whether you’re vegan or not, you’ll want to sample the guilt free treats on offer.
One of Liverpool’s top restaurants, Mowgli is another fantastic place to visit for vegan food in Liverpool.
